In 2017 the NTCA took inspiration from a program run by Central Australia beef producers at the Alice Springs show and came up with the ‘Cows for Schools’ program which asked Top End primary schools to decorate 2-dimensional wooden cows using the theme ‘why we love our NT pastoral industry’. There was an overwhelming response with a total of 20 cows being distributed to 12 local schools.
In 2019 the NTCA will extend the Cows For Schools Program to Katherine and Tennant Creek (in addition to Darwin).
The Future NTCA was first established in 2014 to foster and develop leadership skills within the Northern Territory beef industry’s next generation of leaders.
Now approaching its fifth year, the program has seen participation by a diverse group of young Territorians with a wide range of backgrounds and skills, all aspiring to contribute to strengthening the pastoral industry. The program has been successful in optimising the potential of the industry’s youth; capturing new ideas, networking and injecting renewed enthusiasm.
The NTCA Real Jobs Program is a progressive and innovative employment program that engages, trains and supports young Indigenous people for employment in the Northern Territory pastoral industry.
The NTCA operates the Real Jobs Program in partnership with the Indigenous Land Corporation (ILC). The program began in 2008 with the aim of increasing Indigenous participation in Australia’s northern pastoral industry.
The NTCA Indonesia Australia Pastoral Program (NIAPP) is a unique 360 degree program to foster greater learning and understanding between Australia and Indonesia.
The program is designed to provide practical, hands-on learning; relationship development and cultural exchange between the Indonesian and north Australian beef cattle industries.
The clear and agreed focus for the program is not only to impart practical and technical learning but to establish and expand relationships for mutual growth and benefit. These relationships are seen to build on the already strong and long standing relationships between northern Australia and Indonesia.
