Central Agri Group's Rum Jungle abattoir in Batchelor will be opening for business again at the end of the wet season, and will again be buying cattle and buffalo from across the Northern Territory.
 
In 2003, the old abattoir in Batchelor was mothballed, before undergoing a multi-million dollar renovation and reopening in 2019. Since then, then Batchelor abattoir has been saving producers the long trucking distances to meatworks in Townsville or Broome, complementing the NT's live export industry by offering an alternative for pastoralists with cattle that are out of specifications or won't make it onto a ship.
